“Recipes From Our Front Porch” cookbook subtitled “Hemlock Inn ~ Bryson City, North Carolina.” Compiled by Ella Jo and John Shell in 1982, this is a second printing from 1996, so stated. The cookbook is a plastic-comb spiral-bound hard cover measuring 6½ x 9¼ inches with 156 pages, it is in very excellent gently used condition; flipping through, the pages are clean and unmarked, it doesn’t appear to have been used before.

High in the heart of the Smoky Mountains, The Hemlock Inn is famous for its Lazy Susan dining room tables, as well as its old fashioned mountain food. Here in this cookbook are the recipes served daily, along with other family favorites, with an emphasis on breads, pastries and desserts.
