Part story but mostly recipes, this book is a treasure for anyone who longs for days gone by. The author describes her childhood ‘raised poor in rural Southern Mississipi, picking cotton 12 hours a day for about 10 cents an hour.’ But most of all, she talks about the food she and her family made and ate, and all the traditions surrounding it.
