“I Ain’t Nobody’s Darling” a comedic song from 1921 with lyrics by Elmer Hughes and music by Robert King. This has one of the best laments ever: “I asked her if she’d marry me, And whaddya think she said… She said she wouldn’t marry me, If the rest of the world was dead.” How’s that for rejection??!!! The sheet music is illustrated by Wohlman Studios. Beginning around 1920, brothers Joseph and Saul Wohlman created hundreds of artful sheet music covers and magazine illustrations that appeared with the Wohlman name on them; many were very elegant and steeped in the Art Deco trend of the 1920s. It is thought that the more colorful painted half-tone artwork, and even much of the graphic line art was done by Saul, while some of the line art and the layouts were handled by Joseph.
