A vintage song, this is “Short’nin’ Bread.” Published by Harold Flammer in 1928, it measures 9 x 12 inches with seven pages. It is in good used condition with several small tears along the bottom edge.
“Short’nin’ Bread” is a traditional American plantation song by James Whitcomb Riley based off of the songs heard in the fields of Southern plantations. Shortening bread is a fried batter bread made of corn meal, flour, eggs, baking powder, water, milk and shortening. The cover has Black Americana styling, I haven’t found any information on the artist.
