Synopsis

Two autobiographical recollections from Truman Capote, A Christmas Memory and The Thanksgiving Visitor both center on the author’s early years growing up in rural Alabama. While Thanksgiving and Christmas mean something different for everyone, for seven-year-old Buddy, it means a new home and family. When his mother leaves him with her eccentric family at the edge of a small town, it’s the beginning of one amazing adventure after another with his new best friend — his elderly cousin, Miss Sook Falk. These stories about his rural Alabama boyhood are captivating. Seven-year-old Buddy inaugurates the Christmas season by crying out to his cousin, Miss Sook Falk: “It’s fruitcake weather!” Thus begins an unforgettable portrait of an odd but enduring friendship and the memories the two friends share of beloved holiday rituals. Find out why friendship is the greatest gift of all in these heartwarming classics.
