“Peter Christian’s Recipes” cookbook by Shirley Edes and Julia Philipson. Published by Down East Books in 1983, this is a second printing. The cookbook is a plastic-comb spiral bound soft cover measuring 6 x 9 inches with 172 pages; the price of $9.95 is printed on the back cover. The cookbook is in excellent gently used condition, flipping through quickly the pages looked clean and unmarked.


A collection of recipes from the New Hampshire institution, Peter Christian’s Tavern. In response to the many requests for recipes from locals, “out of staters” and publications like “Gourmet” and “Bon Appetit,” the tavern published this collection of recipes in 1983. The cookbook notes specifically that it does NOT contain the recipes for their famous Mustard, Carrot Cake, or House Salad Dressing. The restaurant originally opened in 1973 and had three locations in New Hampshire.
