Synopsis

With famous judges and Art Linkletter as the host, this was THE baking contest to win. From Pillsbury’s 3rd Grand National $100,000 Recipe and Baking Contest held at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City on December 10, 1951, these are all the winning recipes. Star of the show was the delicious Starlight Double-Delight Cake. The cake won Mrs. Samuel P. Weston the Grand Prize of $25,000. The $10,000 winner was Chocolate Marble Bars; the $5,000 winner was Apple Orchard Pie; the $4,000 award went to Plantation Peach Shortcake; and $3,000 landed on Hot Ziggities. Seven recipes garnered the $1,000 price: Gold Rush Cake, Apple Dapple Pudding, Orange Glory Rolls, Beauty Bow Rolls, Shanghai Casserole, Chocolate Peek-a-Boos and a French Silk Chocolate Pie. Such a great piece of history and full of good recipes, third in a series that continues today!
