With famous judges, this was THE baking contest to win. From Pillsbury’s 4th Grand National $100,000 Recipe and Baking Contest held at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City on December 8, 1952, these are all the winning recipes. Star of the show were the inventive Snappy Turtle Cookies. The cookies won Mrs. Peter S. Harlib the Grand Prize of $25,000. The $7,500 winner was Two-Crust Slice O’Lemon Pie; the $3,000 award went to a Banana Split Pie and $2,500 landed on a Meringue Cradle Cake; $2,000 was given to By Cracky Bars. Five recipes garnered the $1,000 price: Peanut Brittle Cookies, Toasty Coconut Orange Cake, Salmon-Cheese Pie, Hamwiches and a Caramel Candy Pie. Such a great piece of history and full of good recipes, fourth in a series that continues today!
