Synopsis

In the 1950’s, this was THE baking contest to win. From Pillsbury’s 5th Grand National $100,000 Recipe and Baking Contest, these are all the winning recipes. Star of the show was the “My Inspiration” Cake. The cake won Mrs. Bernard Kanago the Grand Prize of $25,000. The $7,500 winner was a recipe for Cinnamon Nut Crisps; the $3,000 award went to a Marbapple Ginger Cake and $2,500 landed on Coconut Islands Cookies; $2,000 was given to Blueberry Boy-Bait. Five recipes garnered the $1,000 price: Prune Whip Spice Cake, Southern Pecan Bars, Chocolate Twin Dots, Lemon Cheese Pie and a Crabmeat Cobbler. Such a great piece of history and full of good recipes, fifth in a series that continues today!
