Description

A very special and rare postcard, a one-of-a-kind treasure for the collector of Lance Thackeray art and postcards. The postcard itself is a Raphael Tuck & Sons postcard, drawn by Thackeray, titled “A Lady of Position.” Amazingly it is written and addressed to Lance Thackeray himself at his home in Notting Hill, London. The message is as follows: “Luxor (Egypt) Dec 15, 1907 – Post cards every where in Cairo and here – 6 p.t. the set of six. The large ones 8 to 10 p.t. each. I hear they are selling like hot cakes. Saw __?__. The Miss __?__ and ___?__ today for lunch. Leaving by Post Boat today for Aswan. Happy Xmas __?__ Koons (sp?)” The postcard measures 3½ x 5½ inches and is in fair used condition due to the cut out. I have a postcard lot of additional cards by Thackeray also offered.
