“Pillsbury’s Best Butter Cookie Cookbook” subtitled “Recipes from the Bake-Off Collection and the Ann Pillsbury’s Recipe Exchange.” Published by Pillsbury Mills, Inc., I am guessing it was about 1959 as the newest Bake-Off recipe in the cook book is from the 9th contest which was held in 1958. The cook booklet is a soft cover (with 5 holes for inserting in a binder) measuring 6 x 9 inches with 50 pages. It is in very good gently used condition with slight wear to the covers with a name written along the top edge, the pages are clean and unmarked.
When this little cookbook was published, Pillsbury had already sold 2 million copies of Volume I and II of their Butter Cookie Cookbook!! That’s crazy for way back in the mid-1950’s!! Here is Volume III of their Butter Cookie Cookbook, filled with fifty brand new recipes in all the popular types … including drop, rolled, bar, pressed and refrigerator cookies. Some of the recipes are from Pillsbury, and some are winning recipes from Pillsbury Bake-Off contests, going up to the 9th contest. Butter cookies are so simple to make that a separate section of Kiddie Cookies that youngsters can make themselves is included… now they can help fill the cookie jar as well as empty it. What’s not to love? … every page of cookies looks more yummy than the page before!!!
